'NYT' reporter Jacob Bernstein 'takes ownership' of 'stupid' Melania remark

Ratajkowski said on Twitter earlier in the day that a reporter for The New York Times, whom she sat next to at an event Sunday, had said, "Melania is a hooker".

In a tweet directed to Ratajkowski, Melania said: "Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women!"

The Bernie Sanders supporter added it doesn't matter what your politics are, "it crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming".

The Washington Examiner reported that the story was first made known by Ratajkowski herself. In addition to the fact that her husband has launched gender-specific attacks on women of the very nature Ratajkowski was criticizing, the notion of "support [ing] other women" just because we're all in this together, ladies, is reductive and not a productive stance. "@emrata #PowerOfEveryWoman #PowerOfTheFirstLady", the first lady wrote.

Credit Suisse Net Loss Narrows
Credit Suisse said in a statement that its net loss was narrower than a year-earlier figure of 2.9 million Swiss francs. The news comes just one month after Credit Suisse's CEO Tidjane Thiam had championed a comeback for banks in 2017.

The comment became public knowledge on Monday after supermodel Emily Ratajkowski said on social media she heard what was said and was outraged over it. "Editors have talked to the reporter in question about the lapse", reports WWD.

The decision for Bernstein to issue his apology through Twitter was mutually arrived at after a discussion with editors, according to Times public editor Liz Spayd, who felt Bernstein's response and the Times' handling of the situation was appropriate to the "strange territory" under which the incident transpired.

The first lady has filed a lawsuit against the UK's Daily Mail over an article that included the rumor that she had once been a "high-end escort". But as Ratajkowski argues, Melania's sexual history, whatever it may be, is her business and hers alone.

"I had no legitimate factual basis to make these false statements and I fully retract them", Tarpley said in the statement provided by Trump's attorneys.
