Hadwin owned a two-shot advantage on the par-4 16th hole, but his drive found the water and a double bogey tied him with Cantlay.

The Canadian carded a closing 71 to finish at 14-under-par 270 at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, with Cantlay (68) second on 13-under.

Abbotsford's own Adam Hadwin has earned his first PGA victory, winning the Valspar Championship by a stroke over American Patrick Cantlay. This was the UCLA's product second start of the season - T48 four weeks ago at the AT&T Pro-Am - and just his third in the last two-and-a-quarter years (76th- and last-place finish at the OHL Classic in November 2014). But Hadwin steadied his nerve, closed with a pair of pars and now has his first career win - and first Masters invite - two months after shooting a 59 at the CareerBuilder Challenge.
