Apple to iPhone owners: We're working fast to block CIA's iOS hacks

The technology built into today's iPhones represents the best data security available to consumers, and we're constantly working to keep it that way.

"While our initial analysis indicates that numerous issues leaked were already patched in the latest iOS [operating system for iPhones and iPads], we will continue work to rapidly address any identified vulnerabilities", said Apple.

The whistleblowing organization released 8,000 "Vault 7" documents and files on Tuesday, March 7, that it claimed were obtained from an "isolated, high-security network" within the CIA's headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

"By the end of 2016, the CIA's hacking division, which formally falls under the agency's Center for Cyber Intelligence had over 5000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other "weaponized" malware", Wikileaks said on its website.

Wikileaks has published a trove of documents that it alleges detail the inner workings of the CIA's hacking programs - and among them is the claim that the United States spy agency is able to hack into Samsung smart TVs and use them as covert microphones. Some of the exploits may have been developed in-house, while others appear to have been purchased, copied or downloaded from non-governmental sources.

The documents show the CIA's use of several mobile messaging apps to monitor conversations, as well as another reported tactic of turning smart TVs into microphones record conversations.

Singer-Songwriter Ed Sheeran to Play the Q in September
It's not so much a case of whether Ed Sheeran's Divide (Asylum) can take the United Kingdom chart crown. If that wasn't enough, Sheeran's songs are dominating the top 10 midweek chart.

'Significant quantity' of infant remains found at Tuam religious home
The home, run by the Bon Secours Sisters, a Catholic religious order of nuns, received unmarried pregnant women to give birth. Mr Redmond's comments come in the wake of the findings at the former Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, Co.

"The CIA has developed automated multi-platform malware attack and control systems covering Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux and more", the report notes. We reached out to Microsoft for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Google, which makes the Android software for smartphones, could not be reached for comment.

The CIA agents on the ground also use a tool called Fine Dining, which provides 24 decoy applications for CIA spies to use.

The German government yesterday said it took the publication of the Central Intelligence Agency documents seriously but could not verify their authenticity. However, it's not exactly a surprise that these devices are able to be hacked, said Engin Kirda, professor of computer science at Northeastern University. It is so-named because the weakness is not known till it is exploited by hackers, leaving the software's author "zero days" to create patches to address the vulnerability. Snowden said that the fact iOS and Android got hacked is a "much bigger problem".

The CIA is allegedly targeting both Android and iOS devices, which account for a combined 97 percent of all smartphones in the world, according to figures from Gartner.
