As Primmer arrived, the watercraft flipped over and both boaters fell into the water.

The frightening incident, which was captured on video, shows Skylar Pentasuglia, 19, and Allison Garrett, 20, of West Virgina, riding together before losing control of the speeding jet ski, almost getting clipped by the massive watercraft.

Primmer rushed to the area and managed to pull them into the sheriff's unit boat just in time.

A video taken by a passenger onboard the ship shows just how close the vessel came to the sheriff's boat and the jet skiers.

Capt. Doug Brown was at the helm of the Carnival Magic, saw the jet skiers in the channel and alerted Primmer, who was on duty in the harbor in a Sheriff's Marine Unit patrol boat.

Brown, a 1982 graduate of the Maine Maritime Academy, has been a pilot at Port Canaveral since 2002.

A close call captured on camera. Vacationers leaving from the port watched as their cruise ship inched closer to the nail-biting rescue, including Anthony Miglioranzi who recorded it.

Skylar Penpasuglia, 19, and 20-year-old Allison Garrett of Princeton, W. Va., were frightened as their jet ski overturned in the water off Port Canaveral Saturday.

While the ship's captain Doug Brown attempted to steer the ship away, he was limited in how far he could maneuver the vessel.

The channel, the sheriff's office said, happens to be rather narrow.
