Taliban stormed two major security installations, including a police center and a regional intelligence agency office in the capital Kabul Wednesday, according to an eyewitness and officials.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, claimed responsibility for both attacks.

The carnage underscores rising insecurity from the resurgent Taliban in the war-scarred country.

A auto bomb targeting a police station in eastern Kabul detonated about 12:30 p.m., said Najib Danish, the Interior Ministry's deputy spokesman. Security officials confirmed attacks in at least two areas of the city.

"More casualties are expected as the ambulances are on their way", ministry spokesperson Waheed Majroh said.

The injured were rushed to hospital.
