There are concerns the process might interfere with the prosecution's ongoing probe into the corruption scandal surrounding Park Geun-hye and her friend, Choi Soon-sil.

Ms Park's friend and secret confidante Choi Soon Sil is standing trial for using her ties to the former leader to force local firms to "donate" almost US$70 million (S$99 million) to non-profit foundations Choi allegedly used for personal gain.

The prosecutor's office would notify Park on Wednesday when she is summoned and would not negotiate on the timing, said the official who declined to be identified. "We will let you know once we are prepared", the unnamed source said, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Park also lost her presidential immunity from prosecution and will now be investigated over the scandal that has already sent dozens of high profile figures to face criminal trials.

The Presidential Archives within the National Archives of Korea has initiated the process of transferring the records of impeached former President Park Geun-hye.
