This is how 'SNL' covered the Mike Pence email controversy
This past Thursday, it was reported that Pence routinely used a private email account (an AOL account, nonetheless) to conduct business as the governor of IN, according to USA Today, where he discussed "sensitive matters and homeland security issues".
Lauren Easton, the AP's director of media relations, said the news organization removed the email address when they realized Karen Pence still used the account.
Paoletta added: 'There was absolutely no reason to publish this private email address, and you should be ashamed of your reprehensible conduct'. "The AP stands by its story, which addresses important transparency issues", Easton said in a statement. The emails and the successful hack of Pence's email account were first reported Thursday night by The Indianapolis Star.
What's more, according to NBC News, on "Meet the Press" in September 2016, Pence said, "What's evident from all of the revelations over the last several weeks is that Hillary Clinton operated in such a way to keep her emails, and particularly her interactions while secretary of state with the Clinton Foundation, out of the public reach, out of public accountability".
Lotter says Pence's attorneys tried to deliver boxes of emails on January 9, his last day as governor.
And while both the vice president and the SNL writers took aim at Pence having an AOL account, cast member Colin Jost delivered a much sharper jab about why the somewhat outdated service was Pence's email provider of choice. IndyStar obtained almost 30 emails through a public records request that Pence had sent from his personal account.

An IndyStar investigation uncovered that the vice president used an AOL email account to conduct state business while he was governor (he served from 2013-17).
A Pence official would not comment or characterize what is in the AOL emails that have not been released.
Lotter did not explain if previous IN governors also used their personal email accounts to conduct state business.
Holcomb declined to release further emails citing an exemption in Indiana's public records law that allows officials to withhold documents discussing the creation of public policy, according to The Star.
The emails are from government accounts as well as Pence's private email account used for government business, spokesman Marc Lotter said. That account was disclosed Thursday.
