You Can Now Use Amazon's Alexa From Your iPhone

Amazon hasn't given any word on whether or not it intends to launch this in other regions, but you have to imagine that it's coming soon.

The feature will be accessible via the Amazon app at the tap of a microphone button. Simply press it to activate Alexa.

Since this is iOS we're talking about, you'll probably wind up using Siri more than you do Alexa.

What can Alexa do on iOS devices?

Just say "Search for paper towels" or "Reorder batteries" or "Add shampoo to my cart". While Alexa will in part be a way to compete with Siri, it will also be something that might get more people using the digital assistant. Just say "Play the Beatles" or "Play my Kindle book".

Are you a fan of Amazon's Alexa digital assistant? If you don't have it already, you can download the Amazon app from the App Store here.

Rare visitor to Chicago this winter is coming: Snow
Drivers can expect to encounter slick, snowy roads and scatted slide offs and spin outs during the Tuesday morning commute. But because lake-effect bands are only about 10 to 15 miles wide, snow totals can greatly vary over short distances.

With Alexa up and running you can do each and every single thing that you would straight from an Echo speaker. That includes everything from having it make purchases for you, look up facts, or control smart home products.

What can't Alexa do on iOS devices? Basically, it's not a crippled down version of Alexa in any way and Amazon has made sure that users get the complete experience from the get-go.

Still, it puts Alexa on another major platform, and that makes choosing it as a way to connect and control all your devices a bit more convenient. And iPhone users will still need the dedicated Alexa app (iTunes link) to change their settings.

When will Alexa arrive for iOS devices?

The feature is now rolling out and should be available to all US users by late March 2017.
