A 12-year-old boy attempting to drive a auto from New South Wales across Australia to Perth has been arrested by police at Broken Hill.

The unlicensed boy had driven more than 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) from his home in Kendall on the east coast when he was stopped by traffic police on Saturday on the Barrier Highway near the remote mining town of Broken Hill.

A 12-year-old Aussie kid has made the incredibly bold and ill-advised decision to drive from Kendall, NSW to Perth in Western Australia.

The boy apparently wanted to drive across Australia solo, a journey of nearly 4000km.
