Police have officially arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the livestreamed rape of a 15-year-old girl on March 19 in Chicago. Police say the alleged attacker faces a charge of aggravated criminal sexual assault and other juvenile felony charges.

Police have not provided details about what exactly happened on March 19 when they said five or six males participated in sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl after she was lured inside a residence by one of the suspects. Authorities said since the attack, the victim has been traumatized, becoming the target of bullies. "They've humiliated themselves, humiliated their families, and now they are going to be held accountable for what they did", Johnson said. The girl's mother went to police after the girl had been missing for a day. Police are still looking the others suspected of committing the crime. "Working with this victim at this time is very, very slow because she does not want to talk about what occurred for obvious reasons".

Following the assault, the victim received harassing messages on social media, causing the victim more distress. "It makes you wonder, what are we doing as a society, that people watch this and don't pick up the phone" and alert police.

"In January, four people were charged with a hate crimes in the kidnapping and torturing of a mentally disabled suburban man on Facebook Live".

"It is baffling to me", Scott said of the Facebook Live posting.

Earlier versions of this story gave incorrect dates for when the girl disappeared and was located.
