Deputy Dead, Suspect Arrested in Central Oklahoma

MULHALL, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma sheriff's deputy died Tuesday after being shot while serving an eviction notice, authorities said, and a suspect was later arrested after a manhunt.

Wade was shot several times, including in the face.

Wade, 40, was taken by helicopter to OU Medical Center. KOCO reports the deputy was serving an eviction notice.

Wade was able to return fire, but Devereaux didn't say whether LeForce was hit. Even at a young age, he said, Wade's aspirations were clear to anyone paying attention. "I don't think you could have a bigger honor than that". LeForce is accused of shooting Wade, who was standing in the front yard of the home, Devereaux said.

Law officers set up an area to search about 5 miles west of Langston between Midwest Boulevard and Post Road between east-west county roads 77 and 76, said trooper John Vincent, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman.
