A delay in a fast food order helped bring an end to a nationwide manhunt this week.

It's not yet clear if the McDonald's employees will receive any of the $50,000 offered by the FBI, ATF and U.S. Marshal Service, but law enforcement officials told TMZ that the workers were crucial in tracking down Stephens.

Before the vehicle chase, however, Stephens stopped at a McDonald's drive-thru and ordered 20 Chicken McNuggets and large fries for $5.35, the restaurant's manager, Henry Sayers, told The New York Times.

Police picked up the trail in a chase that lasted 2 miles before Stephens took his own life, authorities said. "Some even said he should have killed me". "All I can say is that I wish he had gone down in a hail of one hundred bullets", she said. He was "just so proud" of how his crew "handled everything", helping stop Stephens before he could disappear again - and possibly harm more people. "He was the sweetest person I ever met in my life".

Stephens is accused of shooting 74-year-old Robert Godwin, Sr., and posting video of the murder to Facebook.
