More defensive woe for Everton as Ramiro Funes Mori out

Everton's Ramiro Funes Mori could miss the rest of the campaign after the Merseyside club confirmed that the defender suffered an injury to his left knee while on worldwide duty with Argentina.

Funes Mori sustained a torn meniscus when playing in Argentina's 2-0 defeat in Bolivia on Tuesday, meaning he had to be replaced in the first half.

The centre-back is unlikely to return from the injury before the end of Everton's Premier League campaign.

The club says Funes Mori will discuss surgical options next week and "is likely to be out of action for the rest of the campaign".
