Prince celebrations underway at Paisley Park, First Avenue

Some 2,000 fans from around the world paid $500 to $1,000 to attend the four-day Celebration, which was modeled after a similar event in 2000 when Prince opened his studio for a weeklong party. Behind "Purple Rain" was "Little Red Corvette", "Let's Go Crazy" and "Kiss", which all had sales in the 300 thousand range.

Friday marks the one-year anniversary of Prince's tragic death, and Billboard reports that amazingly, the late icon sold more albums than any other artist over the past year...including Adele. Here's a look back at the year since his death and how his legacy lives on.

One of Prince's long-time collaborators has described his "only regret" on the anniversary of the performer's death. Adele, of course. Her 25 album sold 2.21 million albums a year ago. Fans were excited but also baffled because is this what The Purple One would've wanted?

The iconic musician was found dead a year ago today in an elevator at his private estate, Paisley Park.

But independent label RMA says the song "Deliverance" was released before the judge's ruling, so it doesn't apply. You don't die of the flu at age 57, especially when you're a celebrity with access to the best doctors money can buy. Prince asked the Amsterdam crowd to sing along and the Paisley Park audience followed suit.
