Raptors call Lance Stephenson's late score 'disrespectful'; Paul George agrees

The Toronto Raptors blew a 19-point lead last night in IN, but the good news for them is that they have another game tonight in Detroit against the Pistons.

IN trailed by nine less than four minutes into the game as the slow-reacting defense allowed the Raptors to score at will. Toronto surged to a 26-18 advantage by the end of the quarter on the strength of 50 percent shooting. Stephenson finished with 12 points.

He won't be getting those keys as long as Paul George is a Pacer, but he could become the focal point of the team's second unit, as well as a player capable of sliding into closing games on nights where he has things going for him.

Maybe you didn't watch any National Basketball Association games Tuesday because you were trying to come up with something creative to serve your family for brunch on Easter and thought "I know, I'll put Peeps on a pizza" then had to defend that stupid idea.

"When you get a coach and an organization that's behind you, you get your confidence back", Stephenson said. "He wants it just as much as we do". His box score numbers (4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) don't really do him justice.

"Lance knows better", he said. Is he only filling up minutes after injuries to Glenn Robinson III and Rodney Stuckey, who was waived in order to sign Stephenson? "And that ain't the way you win". In this situation, Lance was expected to hold onto the ball and walk off the floor in the closing moments. That will be followed by a home game on Friday against another contender for one of the remaining spots, Miami, before finishing on the road against NY and Cleveland. Not one to look too far into the future, he can't help but think about the day when he'll also get to add Lowry to the mix.

Raptors' coach Dwane Casey was very mad and called Stephenson's character into question. "I thought our guys reacted in the proper way".

Nonetheless, his place as the expected Opening Day starter is nothing short of startling given what transpired a year ago. With the bases loaded and one out, Starling Marte hit a line drive that appeared would go over Benintendi's head.

He needed just one game to make an entire team angry.

DeRozan scored 20 of Toronto's 24 third-quarter points and had 25 at that point.

These two teams don't play the rest of the regular season, but there is a slight chance they could face each other in the first round of the playoffs if the Pacers are able to move up a bit in the standings. "He knew in the locker room afterwards that teams don't normally do that".

"I nearly teared up, " Stephenson said of the applause he heard as he went to the scorer's table late in the first quarter.

The Pacers were 9 of 13 from 3-point range in the second half.

Courtney Lee had 14 points for NY, and Maurice Ndour added 13 points and 12 rebounds in his first career start. "At this point, it's whatever the team needs from me", George told reporters after logging 48 minutes in Sunday's loss. They're going back to what worked, only it's what worked a few years ago.
