Remarks With President Xi Jinping Before Their Meeting

Wang restated Beijing's calls for dialogue between the US and North Korea and called Tillerson's visit an important step toward a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his USA counterpart, President Trump, expected next month.

He also said that there were far more shared interests between the two countries than what separated them.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hailed the rocket test as "a historic day which can be called "March 18" revolution".

Since Trump took office in January, North Korea has fired four ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.

The nuclear-armed North has test-launched a series of missiles in recent months and conducted two nuclear tests a year ago.

China has also been infuriated by the deployment of the Thaad, or Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, missile defense system in South Korea, which it says will both harm China's own security and do nothing to ease tensions.

"North Korea is behaving badly".

"The United States and China really have to work together instead of playing games on trying to put pressure on each other to make concessions", he said. "China has done little to help", Mr. Trump's tweet said.

Wang Yi, China's foreign minister, urged the USA to remain "cool-headed" and defended his government's position, saying all global parties should seek diplomatic solutions while implementing United Nations sanctions against Kim Jong-un's regime.

"Let me be very clear: The policy of strategic patience has ended", he said after visiting the heavily militarized border between the rival Koreas.

Chinese president Xi Jinping said meetings in Beijing with US secretary of state Rex Tillerson had made "good progress" and heralded a "new era" of understanding in Sino-US relations.

NOAA: Snow event off-Cape, mainly rain here
Rain, sleet and snow are going to be the primary precipitation types, but these could vary across a 10-mile swath quite a bit. The caveat to these estimates is a potential pocket of warmer air forecasters are watching which could move northward today .

Trump says he expects a health care deal soon
Even a Republican joining the calls for Devin nunes to step aside after that secret meeting on white house grounds. Trump has used Nunes' revelations to defend his unproven claim that Barack Obama tapped phones at Trump Tower.

North Korea has also always been a concern for Israel, due to its nuclear relationship with Iran and its willingness to sell related military hardware to Syria as well.

"This is a staged approach in which we want to give the North Korean government time to understand what's happening, time to make decisions and adjust".

Wang reiterated the Chinese position that the USA should "come back to the right track of a negotiated settlement".

Tillerson's Beijing visit followed his remarks on Friday in South Korea that pre-emptive military action against North Korea might be necessary if the threat from its weapons program reaches a level "that we believe requires action".

He said Friday that Washington did "not believe that conditions are right to engage in any talks at this time".

Concerns about North Korea and its increasingly threatening behavior dominated discussions during Tillerson's first trip to the region, which included stops in Japan, South Korea and China, the final stop.

Trump and Xi to meet?

On Sunday, news of the rocket engine test came not long before Tillerson met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

It would be the first meeting between the two men, in what many argue is the most important bilateral relationship in the world.

Trump tentatively expects to host Xi at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida next month, and still anticipates the meeting to take place "soon", State Department spokesman Mark Toner confirmed later on Sunday.

The two sides are preparing for a summit meeting between Mr Xi and his USA counterpart, President Donald Trump, the first time the two will meet.
