Russia, Iran and Syria issue warning to US

Russia, Iran and Syria unanimously regarded the United States missile strikes as an aggression in brutal violation of worldwide law and the UN Charter, Lavrov noted.

"The government has officially invited the experts by sending a relevant invitation to the organization in The Hague", Lavrov said after a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Than in Moscow.

The attack, believed by investigators in Turkey and elsewhere to have used sarin, killed around 100 civilians and injured some 500 in the opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhun, Idlib. Meanwhile, Russian administrators argued that the attack came from rebel forces in Syria, not Assad's regime, which the country backs.

On April 7, the USA launched 59 cruise missiles against a Syrian military airfield in response to the Assad's regime's chemical weapons attack that killed at least 89 people in Syria's Idlib province.

The Khan Sheikhoun incident prompted the first direct U.S. military action against Assad's government since the war began, with 59 cruise missiles hitting the Shayrat airbase three days after the suspected chemical attack.

Lavrov said the US strike on the Syrian base has undermined peace efforts in Syria and reflected Washington's focus on ousting Syrian President Bashar Assad's government.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was in Moscow on Wednesday, discussing the US attack with Putin and Lavrov. The Kremlin contended the chemicals were under the control of terrorists, while Lavrov said Friday he sees "growing evidence" that the incident was staged. "If he doesn't, then we're going to have to think about what our options are - one of them may be bringing a privileged resolution to withdraw United States military forces by a given date from Syria". "These three allies are going to pursue a path in Syria, which is anti-American and runs contrary to USA interests in the region", London-based expert on Middle East affairs, Danny Makki, told PressTV in an exclusive iednterview on Friday.

Washington has failed to provide any proof that the Syrian government was behind the purported gas attack, with Damascus categorically denying the U.S. accusation.

U.S. officials claim that the suspected chemical incident in the town of Khan Shaykhun in Idlib Province, which reportedly left over 80 people dead on April 4, had been launched from the military site.
