WWE releases Simon Gotch, breaking up The Vaudevillains

"WWE wishes Gotch the best in all his future endeavors".

Gotch, 34, whose real name is John Smith, concluded a almost four-year run with WWE after signing a developmental deal in June 2013.

The Vaudevillains won't be winning the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship anytime soon ... because WWE has agreed to release Simon Gotch from his contract.

Senate begins debate on Gorsuch, headed for showdown
Senate in 1992 when then-Sen. " Neil Gorsuch will be confirmed this week", McConnell said on CNN's "State of the Union". The shift to a 51-vote majority procedure will help only whichever party now holds a majority.

It has only been a year since the WWE brought the Vaudevillians to the main roster. It appears the SmackDown Superstar requested the release. From here, they continued to be buried and have done nothing since. Gotch participated in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 and wrestled in a dark match against American Alpha as a part of SmackDown on Tuesday. This stems in part from his (real life) brawl with Sin Cara a year ago, and it's been reported that "his personality rubbed a lot of people the wrong way". That fight was said to be a "one-sided destruction" by Cara and it was reported at the time that "Gotch's mouth sometimes gets people mad at him". The Vaudevillains have not been used all that much since getting called up to the main roster, and they honestly had a gimmick that did not translate well to WWE television.

Additionally-and take it with a grain of salt-somebody with apparent inside knowledge on Reddit has suggested that Gotch was considered an unsafe worker, putting his fellow WWE stars at risk in the ring.
