The UFC is considering adding a 125-pound female weight class later this year and would kick-start its new division with "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series.

Women's fighters on the current UFC roster will also be eligible to participate in the show as long as they are able to consistently make 125-pounds throughout the season.

UFC announced a late-May open tryout for women between 21-34 with a winning record and at least three professional fights. "When Yahoo Sports contacted UFC president Dana White for comment on the decision, he said the news release announcing the upcoming season was sent in error and that it hadn't been finalized", states the report.

Flyweight will be the fourth weight class for women in the UFC, which only began promoting women's fights in early 2013.

The UFC is introducing a 12th weight class.
