Passenger David Dao Settles With Airline Over Dragging Incident

According to CNN, Dao's lawyers did not disclose the settlement amount.

At the same time, another United flight was experiencing technical issues, keeping four airline staff in Chicago from arriving in Louisville in time to crew flights leaving the following day.

After filing a petition in Cook County Circuit Court to preserve evidence and talks of a lawsuit being filed, the confidential settlement was negotiated with United by Dao's lawyers, Thomas A. Demetrio of Corboy & Demetrio and Stephen L. Golan of Golan Christie Taglia.

"Mr. Munoz said he was going to do the right thing, and he has", Munoz said. Federal rules say those fliers have the right to demand payment instead of perks - but after the United fiasco, it's clear that airlines want to avoid these circumstances altogether. The police officers involved have also since been suspended.

"Dr. David Dao has reached an amicable settlement with United Airlines for the injuries he received in his April 9 ordeal, which was captured on video and viewed worldwide", Dao's attorneys said in a statement.

"We look forward to implementing the improvements we have announced, which will put our customers at the centre of everything we do".

Dr. Dao has yet to give his own firsthand account of what happened on April 9 as he tried to make his way home to Louisville, Kentucky, and given the swiftness with which United settled it is likely he never will after likely signing a non-disclosure agreement.
