Pope to canonize 2 kids for 1917 visions of Mary

The Virgin Mary of the Gospel, venerated by the Church at prayer, or a Mary of our own making: one who restrains the arm of a vengeful God; one sweeter than Jesus the ruthless judge; one more merciful than the Lamb slain for us?

The Lady of Fatima delivered messages during the visions on the 13th day of each month from May to October 1917 to Lucia dos Santos and her two young cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima, a Scarborough parish dedicated to Our Lady received new relics from the Holy See.

"On Sunday, June 18, the Our Lady of Fatima statue will be at all the Masses at St. Leo's (8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m.) and then from noon to 5 p.m. that day there will be adoration, exposure of (the) Our Lady of Fatima statue and confessions along with a rosary said every hour".

Documents made available to the Times of Malta by the Archbishop's Curia show that according to the little shepherds' interpretation of the third secret, as was also confirmed by Sr Lucia, "the bishop clothed in white" who prays for all the faithful is the Pope. The third is also on the way to sainthood.

The candlelight night-time Mass is traditionally popular with pilgrims. John Paul made the first of his three pilgrimages to Fatima the following May, and one of the bullets fired at him now adorns the crown of the Madonna at the shrine. Authorities said they expected 1 million people.

"We will follow all paths and everywhere make our pilgrim way; we will tear down all walls and cross every frontier as we go out to every periphery to make known God's justice and peace", he said.

The Fatima mystery has fascinated Catholics and non-Catholics alike for a century, blending visions of the Virgin, supernatural meteorological events and apocalyptic messages of hell, World War II, communism and the death of a pope. On Oct. 13,1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared for the last time at the Cova di Iria before the three children and 70,000 onlookers who witnessed the Miracle of the Dancing Sun.

Kellyanne Conway Only Calls Out Sexism When Its Convenient
There's a reason the entire internet loved and ran with Cooper's eye roll-this was classic Conway condescension being validated. Both statements were contradicted shortly afterwards by White House spokesman Sean Spicer.

"Thank you for your welcome and for joining me on this pilgrimage of hope and peace", he said, assuring those united with him, either physically or spiritually, that they have a special place in his heart. He will make two of them saints at a Mass on Saturday. After landing at the sanctuary May 12, the pope rode among the crowds in the pope-mobile. Pope Francis asked May 12. Plans for the outdoor shrine have already begun and Mallia says he expects to have it ready for visitors by August this year. The pope rode in an electric golf cart to the air base's tiny chapel.

At this time in our lives and in the history of the world, it seems things could never be worse: Christians and others are being murdered- decapitated even- for their faith in God; and children not yet born are being dismembered in the mothers' womb because they are believed to be an "inconvenience" to their mothers, and their body parts sold for cash by those who murder them; elders are being encouraged to request "assisted suicide", and told it is the merciful thing to do; and in at least four African countries people are starving to death because of drought and other nations seem not to notice the plight of their sisters and brothers of our one heavenly Father. On Saturday, during a Mass, he will canonize two of the child shepherds, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. Others toss wax limbs into a fire beside the shrine's chapel as they say a prayer for healing.

His parents, Joao Baptista and his wife, Lucila Yurie, broke their silence on Thursday in Fatima to tell the story of his recovery on the eve of Francis' arrival.

Throughout her six appearances Mary encouraged them to pray the rosary daily and to offer sacrifices in reparation for sins.

The shrine, with its basilica overlooking a vast square, now fuels the big business of this small town.

Quoting from his 2013 apostolic exhortation Evangelii gaudium, Pope Francis said that in looking at Mary we are able to believe again "in the revolutionary nature of love and tenderness".

"With Mary, as a pilgrim of hope and peace I travel to Fatima tomorrow".
