Search for escaped inmates expanding as it enters 3rd day

A Georgia sheriff says there is a reward up to $130,000 for the two escaped inmates.

As of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sills said escapees Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe had been gone almost 36 hours since the truck was taken.

These are the two men who reportedly killed two Georgia state prision guards on a bus this week before fleeing the scene in a stolen auto.

Meanwhile, Sills appealed for the public to help locate the truck and the fugitives, and to call 911 immediately if they spot them.

Numerous 31 inmates who stayed behind knew little of Rowe and Dubose since they came from different prisons or different areas of Baldwin State Prison, where Rowe and Dubose had been housed until that morning.

The fugitives were later found to have ransacked a house and ditched their prison uniforms.

Rowe had been serving a life sentence since 2002 over convictions including robbery and aggravated assault.

The sheriff of Putnam County, Georgia, admitted that a pair of inmates who escaped custody after they were accused of killing two correctional officers earlier this week had a 13-hour head start on authorities after they allegedly stole a white pickup truck and switched vehicles before authorities realized it. Sills said the FBI, Georgia Department of Corrections, U.S. Marshall Service, Ga.

Sill said he believes the two are traveling in a stolen white pick up truck.

Dubose, who was serving a 20-year prison sentence at the time of his escape, likely will not have an easy time hiding in a crowd: His neck is covered with hard-to-miss tattoos, with more ink drawings, in the shape of a crown, engraved over his eyebrows.

Sills said the Honda Civic they carjacked at the killing scene was hidden in some woods, and they walked to the quarry from there.

If you see the truck or them, they are considered "armed and risky", and you should call, 911 or 877-WANTED2 (926-8332). Sills says authorities aren't sure where they went after that, but he suspects they're no longer in the Madison area.
