This repository contained a lot of information on customers, including name, phone number, and general data on the calls they made to customer service. MORE THAN 14 million Verizon customer records, including phone numbers and account PINs, were reportedly exposed online last month. The collected records are from the last six months, from January to June of this calendar year. The security hole was sealed June 22.

UpGuard traced the data back to a Nice Systems engineer based in the company's Ra'anana, Israel headquarters.

According to ZDNet, the data is collected from customer calls and stored by Nice Systems so that it can be analyzed to help improve the customer service experience.

Security issues in the Amazon Cloud are usually caused by user error, says O'Sullivan.
