Delta Airlines responds to Ann Coulter's 'unacceptable and unnecessary' tweetstorm

Ann Coulter publicly scorned Delta Air Lines on social media at the weekend for allegedly giving her "carefully chosen" seat to another passenger.

Coulter tweeted at Delta on Saturday - apparently after her flight from New York's La Guardia airport to West Palm Beach, Florida, had landed - calling it the "worst airline in America".

"We're sorry you did not receive the preferred seat you paid for and will refund your $30", the company tweeted on Sunday night.

The conservative political commentator often unleashes her anger on social media, but instead of her usual political rants, Coulter used the power of her platforms on Saturday to berate Delta Airlines. It said it only learned of Coulter's complaints after she began tweeting about it on July 15, following the flight's arrival.

Was it really necessary to take photos of a young woman, without even bothering to ask her name?

In a separate statement, Delta added, "Each of our employees is charged with treating each other as well as our customers with dignity and respect".

"At the time of boarding, Delta inadvertently moved Coulter to 15A - a window seat - when working to accommodate several passengers with seating requests", a Delta spokesperson said. And we hold each other accountable when that does not happen.

"Delta expects mutual civility throughout the entire travel experience", the statement said. Everyone, including Coulter, complied and the flight departed and landed without further incident, according to Delta.

"Suckiest @Delta moved me from my PRE-BOOKED SEAT & gave it to some woman, not elderly, child, or sick".

- Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) July 15, 2017Suck-ass @Delta spends all this $$$ on handsome aircraft & then hire Nurse Ratchets as flight attendants & gate agents.

During her Twitter onslaught, Coulter referred to some of the Delta crew members as "Nurse Ratchets" - alluding to the main villain in the classic 1975 film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, as reported by The Washington Post.

Coulter spent much of Sunday afternoon tweeting and retweeting disparaging remarks against Delta.
