Paul George traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder

By trading for George, it appears the Thunder is not that concerned with losing the all-star when he becomes a free agent following the end of next season.

IN acquired Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis for a year of George's services.

George 27, played his first 7 seasons in IN leading them to the eastern conference finals in 2012.

Russell Westbrook, only one year after losing superstar wingman Kevin Durant in National Basketball Association free agency, now has another elite player at his side after the Oklahoma City Thunder traded for Indiana Pacers forward Paul George on Friday night.

Last season, George averaged a career-high 23.7 points on 46 percent shooting. Several teams were mentioned as the potential landing spot for George, and the Cleveland Cavaliers were one of team.

George gives the Thunder a dynamic second superstar to pair alongside Russell Westbrook, a necessity by today's National Basketball Association standards and something OKC glaringly missed last season when Kevin Durant left for Golden State. The deal is reportedly worth $173 million. He averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists during his time there.

Still, Indiana probably should have been more serious about dealing George before the deadline. George has one year left on his contract at which point he's extremely interested in playing for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

The Utah Jazz received Ricky Rubio from the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Oklahoma City Thunder's 2018 protected first-round pick, absorbing him into their remaining cap space for the 2016-2017 season before it expired at midnight. Only time will show, and it's time for both the Pacers and George to move on.
