Marshawn Lynch Protests The National Anthem During White Terrorist Rally

In his first game in an Oakland Raider uniform, Marshawn Lynch didn't play a down.

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch chose to take a seat during the national anthem Saturday as his team prepared to take on the Arizona Cardinals. Even though he suited up for the preseason matchup, he did not see any action on the field.

Lynch has voiced his support for quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the anthem to protest police brutality against people of color. However, it appears as though the veteran National Football League mind is now on board with whatever it is that his newest offensive weapon decides to do going forward. "He said, 'This is something I've done for 11 years".

After Saturday's game, Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio told reporters that he didn't think Lynch's sitting would be a distraction, according to the Arizona Republic, and said the gesture was "a non-issue for me". "I said, 'So you understand how I feel".

In response, del Rio said he strongly believes in "standing for the national anthem". "You do your thing, and we'll do ours".

In a time of controversy and racial tension in the United States, Lynch chose the ideal moment to sit during the national anthem.

Lynch hasn't spoken with media in Napa during training camp yet, and given that he hasn't stood for the anthem in over a decade it's unlikely he will do so for this matter.

"With what's going on, I'd rather see him take a knee than stand up, put his hands up and get murdered", Lynch told ESPN previous year. "If you're really not racist then you won't see what he's doing as a threat to America".
