NOAA-led report contradicts Trump, concludes climate change is very real

Both South America and Africa suffered droughts during 2016 that were among the "notable climate anomalies", and dry conditions generally were widespread.

Scientists debunk The New York Times claim that it leaked a secret - "gloom and doom" - climate change report which President Trump is trying to keep from the public.

While the study, recognized as the USA government's most comprehensive look at climate, identified varying levels of turbulence across the globe, few spots were immune to the impacts of climate change - and some faced dire threats.

The climate clan took their cue and went ballistic on social media, peddling the line that Trump was planning to hide this secret climate report under his gold-plated pillow.

While Trump's administration seeks to unwind federal policies to address climate change, local governments are being forced to act.

It is "extremely unlikely" 2014, 2015 and 2016 would have been the warmest consecutive years on record without the influence of human-caused climate change, according to the authors of a new study.

Amusing thing, though: The report was already made public earlier this year.

"I can't remember an administration where you had this many leaks this early in a presidency", said Mr.

She was so good at it. "I love being my mother's daughter, and it's something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie". There is also a possibility that Billie Lourd could collect additional money in trusts not reflected in the probate case.

Dow goes for 10 record highs in a row
ENERGY: Benchmark U.S. crude lost 23 cents to $48.94 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The S&P hasn't moved more than 0.5 percent in one day since July and has fallen more than 1 percent only twice this year.

The scientific report is working its way through the federal review process and, Hayhoe says, "has passed peer review, public review, agency review by all agencies and departments with relevant expertise, and review by a committee of the US National Academy of Sciences that was specially convened with the sole goal of reviewing this report".

"As others have pointed out-and the New York Times should have noticed-drafts of this report have been published and made widely available online months ago during the public comment period", she said.

"To treat a climate report that has been public for months and is now undergoing official comment by numerous federal agencies as a final document does a disservice to the American people". "This is the first case in which an analysis of climate change of this scope has come up in the Trump administration, and scientists will be watching very carefully to see how they handle it".

So, what's in the clandestine report?

In particular, "the 3.5 ± 0.1 ppm [parts per million] rise in global annual mean carbon dioxide from 2015 to 2016 was the largest annual increase ever observed in the 58-year measurement record". The average surface temperature of the planet has risen about 1.1 degrees Celsius (2.0 degrees Fahrenheit) since the late 19th century, and the past 35 years have seen a majority of the warming, with 16 of the 17 warmest years on record occurring since 2001, according to NASA.

But the report also says that "crucial uncertainties remain".

While El Niño is a natural warming of Pacific Ocean water, man-made global warming is caused by greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal. And in a now famous social media post, Trump tweeted in 2012: "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-competitive".
