Samsung Galaxy Note 8 hands-on: The upgrade Note users are clamoring for

The launch event of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be live streamed on the company's global website.

Next up, the company published an infographic that details all the things you can do with the Note8's S Pen, including creating "live messages" and coloring. The new image shows the phablet sporting the same design as it was seen in earlier leaked renders.

The functionality and fun of the S Pen has been expanded. Barring the rear camera setup, everything else follows along the S-series lineup, including the 3.5mm headphone jack thankfully.

The Note 8 will be delivered with Android 7 and receive later an update to the recently announced Android 8. Bixby, unsurprisingly, is included and can be accessed via the smartphone's dedicated Bixby button. For now, this seems like a perfectly good Samsung phone (which is to say, and I should highlight this point, an excellent smartphone overall), but one that will have a hard time standing out in a meaningful way from Samsung's other, cheaper perfectly good phones. The front camera is expected to come with an 8-megapixel sensor. For the second one, it has an f/2.4 telephoto, with2x fixed zooming capabilities. For more accurate pictures, similar to the Essential phone, the dual cameras may have a black-and-white sensor, apart from a colour sensor. "They've been a constant inspiration to us, and we designed the new Note for them", said DJ Koh, president of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. At its debut today, the Galaxy Note 8 was used to conduct a Zoom conference call, which was seamlessly picked up on a desktop with a DeX stand on it, where the user shared his screen with the other person and did some basic photo editing.

Tropical Storm Harvey May Regroup and Threaten Gulf Coast
The remnants of former Tropical Storm Harvey , however, may redevelop into a tropical storm late this week and move through Texas. In addition to the rain, Harvey could bring a storm surge to the coast and tropical storm or hurricane force winds.

Moscow to Further Examine US Decision to Limit Issuing Visas to Russians
As part of that response, the US took back two compounds used by the Russians, one in NY and one on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It insisted however that it will able to maintain adequate staffing "to carry out essential elements of our mission".

S.Korea, US begin annual military drills
China's Global Times newspaper, a state-run tabloid, was scathing of South Korea's decision to proceed with the drills. Previous year in August, after joint maneuvers, the North Korean military launched a missile from a submarine.

The Snapdragon 835 CPU (or the Exynos 8895 outside the U.S. and China) matches the other flagships we've seen this year, though 6 GB of RAM is notably generous. Chances are that only the USA variant of the phone will come with Snapdragon 835 chip.

The S8 and S8+ both have 64GB of internal storage with microSD support for storage expansion, so a few less options to the Note 8. It is expected to be backed up by a 3300mAh battery.

The Galaxy Note 8 will likely be exclusive to Amazon India based on the "Galaxy Unpacked" banner displayed on the e-commerce site. As for price Samsung has said that the handset will retail for around R18 499 at launch.

Further, there are also rumours that on pre-booking the phablet, Samsung will be offering a free 256GB SD card and wireless charger or a free Samsung Gear 360 camera. The Note 8 features two camera lenses of 12MP resolution and the Korean tech giant is kind enough to provide us with official camera samples as well.
