ABJP youth wing leader was arrested and Dhanera City BJP president named as an accused on Saturday in connection with the attack on Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's vehicle when he was visiting north Gujarat's flood-affected Banaskantha district on Friday.

Agitated over the stone pelting on the convoy of Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat on Friday, Congress workers staged a protest in front of Gandhi statue in Hazaratganj on Saturday.

BJP had yesterday attacked the Congress leader, terming his visit to Gujarat as an example of his "photo opportunity" politics, and downplayed the protests against him.

Gandhi said he was undeterred by the attack.

"We have arrested Darji, who is the main accused in the case", Banaskantha SP Neeraj Badgujar told The Hindu.

"Darji is the secretary of Banaskantha district BJP Yuva Morcha".

Rahul was on visit to the flood-hit Jalore district in Rajasthan in the morning and moved to the Banaskantha district in the afternoon for interaction with the flood-raged villagers. Reacting to this development, Rahul Gandhi said he respects the sentiments of party workers but requested them to invest their energy in helping people.

The minister said that it was the result of Congress infighting. "Do they think such undemocratic act of violence will cow down or intimidate anybody", the Congress spokesman said.

"In Friday's incident, BJP workers threw such a huge stone that my personal security officer was injured". This is kind of politics that Modi ji, BJP and RSS do, ' Mr Gandhi said.

"It is clear the dangers that we could face should we allow these communal forces to gain a foothold in our state".

He tweeted: I condemn the unfortunate attack on Rahul Gandhi's convoy.
