According to the ODH, a 44-year-old Clermont County man contracted the virus.

To date, there have been no reported cases of West Nile virus in humans in Ripley County, but residents are being urged to take precautions.

"Historically, August and September are the months when the majority of human cases occur and represent the greatest risk for acquiring West Nile virus infection", Dr. Theodore Andreadis, Director of CAES said in a statement on Wednesday.

Burr Ridge officials reported the DuPage County Health Department notified them that a batch of mosquitoes from a trap in Harvester Park tested positive for West Nile Virus.

With mosquito season upon us, the West Nile virus has been making its rounds across the state. "While many people may be infected with West Nile and not show symptoms, in a small number of cases, the infection can cause very serious complications, even death". The mosquitoes that carry the virus are typically out from dusk to dawn.

Drain standing water in your yard and neighborhood: Mosquitoes can develop in any water stagnant for more than three days. If you are outdoors, wear a long-sleeved shirt and long trousers and use insect repellent.

Check your window and door screens to make sure there are no holes to allow mosquitoes in your home.
