Former San Francisco 49ers WR Jeremy Kerley could rejoin New York Jets

The New York Jets have signed wide receiver Jeremy Kerley to a one-year deal, reuniting with a player who spent his first five National Football League seasons with the franchise.

In five seasons with the Jets (2011-15), Kerley played in 74 games (24 starts) and recorded 182 receptions for 2,225 yards and nine touchdowns.

Kerley signed with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in March 2016 but was traded to San Francisco five months later.

The wide receiver was at the team's facility on Tuesday. With 246 catches, the 28-year-old Kerley has the most receptions among the team's receivers.

To make room for Kerley, the Jets waived FB Julian Howsare. Pierre Garçon, Marquise Goodwin and Aldrick Robinson are expected to be San Francisco's top three receivers.

Now back with his original team, Kerley brings experience to a young Jets receiving core and an option in the return game until Jalin Marshall's four-game suspension is over.

He played his collegiate football at TCU and was originally selected by NY in the fifth round (153rd pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
