The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office released their initial autopsy results conducted on Maxwell Gruver, of Roswell, Ga., Friday morning.

Gruver's body showed no signs of external trauma, but "marked cerebral and pulmonary edema were observed", according to the report.

"Hazing is risky, irresponsible and unacceptable", said LSU President F. King Alexander at a news conference Thursday evening.

Additional details were not released by campus police.

Gruver was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge Thursday morning for a medical emergency and was pronounced dead at the hospital, LSU spokesman Ernie Ballard said. More detailed toxicology analysis is to come, so the autopsy could take four weeks longer to complete, the office said.

A freshman at Louisiana State University died after being rushed to hospital from the Phi Delta Theta fraternity following a "potential hazing incident".

Gruver was a graduate of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School.

"We're committed to investigating this situation thoroughly", said Bob Biggs, the chief executive at Phi Delta Theta. He also called the teenager's death "tragic and untimely", according to NBC11.

Furthermore, President Alexander says that Phi Delta Theta, the fraternity involved in the investigation, has been suspended by the university and its national chapter. According to LSU, Gruver's death is being investigated as a possible hazing incident.

Last February, a 19-year-old Pennsylvania State University student died during a pledge event, leading to criminal charges for fraternity members. "It will not be tolerated at LSU, period".
