President Trump heads to Las Vegas

President Donald Trump will reckon with the aftermath of a deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas as he meets Wednesday with survivors and law enforcement officials in a time of grief.

Gunderson was one of the more than 500 victims who were injured in Sunday night's shooting when Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. Authorities have been learning more about the gunman, the president said, although the investigation has yet to uncover a motive. "We're going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a very short time", Trump told reporters at the White House.

Mr Trump had reportedly discussed the issue with lawmakers on the way back from visiting Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Gunderson was shot when 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock opened fire on hundreds of people attending the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.

Paddock killed more than 50 people and injured more than 500 Sunday in one of the worst mass shootings in recent US history.

Lombardo said what is clear is that the attack late Sunday on the Las Vegas Strip was premeditated. "It is a "miracle" how fast the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were able to find the demented shooter and stop him from even more killing!"

"Our concerns are as long as we are promoting guns in the most positive way possible", he said, "by providing training and education, and safety, and not allowing what we consider questionable items for sale, here". He is also scheduled to visit Puerto Rico on Tuesday.

"While everyone else was crouching, police officers were standing up as targets just trying to direct people and tell them where to go", Trump said.
