The alert said Mariah Kay Woods is a 3-year-old white female, approximately 2 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 30 pounds.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Mariah Kay Woods, who was last seen at 2405-7 Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville.

Alex Woods and his partner were granted temporary custody of Mariah and her two brothers for about a month in 2016 while Child Protective Services investigated an incident involving the kids' mother, WCTI said. "Personally, I would be a hot mess, but we let (the family) know there is a huge community here". About an hour after that, Woods' boyfriend reportedly saw Mariah when she came out of her room.

As of Tuesday morning, FBI, NCIS, Onslow County Sheriff's Department, and military police were all working on the case.

Multiple helicopters have been used in that effort, along with deputies and firefighters from at least four volunteer fire departments.
