"At about 4.38pm we started to receive numerous 999 calls reporting shots fired in a number of locations on Oxford Street and at Oxford Circus tube station".

British Transport Police say officers were called to Oxford Circus Tube station following reports of gun fire on the westbound Central Line platform. Met police officers are urging people in the area to go into a building, or remain inside. "Officers are on scene and dealing", said the Met.

Metropolitan Police responded to reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station.

Oxford Circus station in London has been evacuated because of an "incident", police said.
