Technically speaking, the Google Maps Go is not available on any smartphone other than the ones running Android Go.

"We are now adding Android Lollipop to the list of devices on which Google Assistant will be available".

In separate news regarding another version of Android, Google has come up with Google Maps Go for the Android Go. While Google is still managing the chaotic Android fragmentation, it will bring Assistant to smartphones with older aging software.

Users will be able to use Google Assistant, when they get the update and opt-in. Similarly, lightweight variants of Google Assistant and Gmail are also on the way.

United Kingdom users who have their language set as English will be able to use Google Assistant from today, while Spanish, Italian, Japanese, German, French, Portuguese and Korean also supported. Today, the company has finally started rolling out Google Assistant for all Android phones and tablets running Android 5.0 Lollipop or above. It's also rolling out to users in Italy, Japan, Germany, Brazil and Korea. The app will be available exclusively for Android smartphones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher and with a RAM capacity of 1GB or lower. Coming in close behind in the No. 2 spot with 26.3% is Android Lollipop, which is now more than three years old. Nonetheless, the Google Maps Go app offers similar features as the main app, including detecting your location, providing directions and traffic information and travel duration estimate for cars, two-wheelers, public transit and walking. Google had released the Android Oreo Go edition at an event in New Delhi earlier this month.

The latest update is also special in that it also expands the scope of Google Assistant to Android tablets as well. It sounds like Google isn't quite going to hit this level of saturation, though, since the Assistant is limited by language and country.
