The NCP leader was reacting to a special CBI court in Ranchi yesterday convicting Prasad and 15 others in a fodder scam case, 21 years after it had surfaced, while acquitting six others, including former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra.

"Lalu Prasad Yadav is even now politicizing the issue instead of accepting the verdict, just to deviate he is levelling allegations of conspiracy on BJP", Union Minister JP Nadda said.

Soon after a special CBI court in Ranchi pronounced its verdict and held Lalu guilty, the RJD chief took to twitter to express his anguish.

Special CBI Judge Shivpal Singh delivered the judgment at around 3.40pm.

Lalu Prasad was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail. The acquitted people include Mishra, former Bihar Minister Vidya Sagar Nisad and then Public Accounts Committee chairman Dhruva Bhagat. But Lalu had been assigned the railway ministry in the crucial UPA era, as a reward for RJD's staunch loyalty to the Sonia Gandhi-led coalition of secular parties, with Manmohan Singh as the prime minister. Congress leader Jagannath Mishra, 80, who served as Bihar CM immediately before Lalu, was acquitted along with five others. ED files chargesheet against Lalu's daughter The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Misa Bharti, her husband Shailesh Kumar and others in an alleged Rs 8,000 crore money laundering case.

The trial in three cases gained momentum in May this year after the Supreme Court directed that the trial be completed in nine months. In Patna, the party said it will challenge the verdict in the High Court (HC).

In a series of tweets, Lalu Prasad attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over his conviction, accusing the party of playing "dirty politics" to get votes by tarnishing the image of its opponents.
