North Korea reportedly testing anthrax-loaded ICBMs

SEOUL-North Korea has begun tests to load anthrax onto intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to an intelligence source here.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump sent his first National Security Strategy report to lawmakers.

The testing comes as North Korea is under increasingly strict worldwide sanctions for its missile and nuclear weapons testing.

The Times of Israel adds that US officials have long suspected that North Korea was messing around with anthrax, and as a result, the U.S.

The North Korean regime has started tests with a view to loading intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) with anthrax, according to regional media reports.

"North Korea - a country that starves its own people - has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons that could threaten our homeland", the report said.

United States troops stationed in South Korea have been vaccinated against anthrax for over a decade, according to the newspaper . The regime may already possess 13 biological agents, ranging from botulism and cholera to the plague, claimed the report .

A report by Harvard Kennedy School's Belfar Center for Science and International Affairs stated the dictatorship may have "anthrax and smallpox" pathogens that could be turned into weapons. "North Korea is also pursuing chemical and biological weapons which could also be delivered by missile".

Although North Korea is party to both the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention and the Geneva Protocol, it is suspected of maintaining an ongoing biological weapons program.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also announced a new worldwide group Tuesday to increase the pressure on North Korea for a diplomatic solution to the global crisis over the regime's growing nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
