Packers name Browns' Mike Pettine to replace Dom Capers

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the team will name former Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine as its new defensive coordinator.

Bradley reportedly signed a new contract to remain defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday, and Fangio, whose contract expired on January 8, could be retained in Chicago by new head coach Matt Nagy.

Prior to that, Pettine spent a pair of seasons as the Cleveland Browns head coach, compiling a 10-22 record. So Pettine replaces Dom Capers, who served in the position for eight seasons.

Packers now preparing to hire former Browns' HC Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator, per league source. With the Jets from 2009 to 2012, Pettine's defenses ranked first, third, fifth and eighth.

Mike Pettine, now 51 years old, wasn't employed by an National Football League team in 2017 but he did spend the season with the Seattle Seahawks studying their defense.
