Separately, Met Éireann has issued a national snow-ice warning which will come into effect at midnight.

Larger amounts of snow are expected on higher ground, especially in Ulster and Connacht.

There's also a status yellow wind warning in place for Munster, Leinster and Galway from 3pm this afternoon until 8pm this evening.

Gusts of up to 110km/h and mean speeds between 55-65km/h are expected.

While Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal will be hit with heavy showers - with a rainfall caution in place there.

"Next week, the weather will remain in its changeable phase, going between milder and colder spells with further spells of snow".
