In the app's description, the company explains that it plays music instantly when opened and can be changed by scrolling through other station options in large font. It also touts the fact that users don't need to search for anything, or type into the app at all. Like Spotify's core service, there's a personalization element with user-based playlists created once enough music has been played for it to gather data. An app that focuses on leanback listening via personalized radio stations: That approach seems very reminiscent to Pandora's original streaming service.

Spotify is testing an app that sees it move firmly into Pandora's territory.

However, while the Stations app is now listed in the Google Play Store, it's not available to Android phones outside of Australia.
