Last year Lucie Jones came 15 out of 26 in Kiev with her soaring power ballad "Never Give Up On You" (I still sing this in the shower) - a result that was within sniffing distance of the top half of the table, which by United Kingdom standards is pretty much a win.

Her musical career started early as a child soloist, performing for the likes of HRH Prince Charles in iconic British venues such as The Royal Albert Hall and St. Paul's Cathedral.

SuRie - who was triumphant at the Eurovision: You Decide competition on Wednesday night - is pally with the Grammy award winning singer.

SuRie - real name Susanna Cork - was announced as the victor of Eurovision You Decide during a live event in Brighton on Wednesday (February 7), which was broadcast on BBC Two. She's previously performed in the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, and will now fly the flag for the United Kingdom at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal on May 12.

SuRie said: "Storm is a smash!"

The singer-songwriter also has major Eurovision experience, and has worked with the Belgian camp on two occasions.

SuRie is a Eurovision veteran compared to numerous wide-eyed contestants who take to the stage.

Cork has appeared at Eurovision on two previous occasions, as a backing dancer for Belgian act Loic Nottet in 2015 and as musical director for Belgium's Blanche a year ago.

SuRie was one of six acts to take part in the BBC's Eurovision: You Decide 2018 programme, where viewers voted for their favourite song to take on Europe.
