Duke is now the No. 7 team in the nation in the eyes of the NCAA men's basketball selection committee, which revealed its top 16 teams up to this point in the season Sunday afternoon on CBS.

The South Region, to be played in Atlanta, also included Cincinnati, Michigan State and Tennessee. The committee has Duke No. 7, which would give it a 2 seed, and North Carolina No. 12, which would be a three seed.

So while Virginia Tech's away win vs. Virginia was an RPI top-50 win past year, it is now a Quadrant 1 win. Its strength of schedule is rated No. 94 in the country.

March 11th the official NCAA Tournament Bracket will be announced.

The overall No. 1 seed as chosen by the committee is Virginia, with Villanova, Xavier and Purdue, a team that just lost to the Spartans, being named as the other No. 1 seeds.
