Next Generation iPhone X To Be Much Cheaper?

Apple is said to be planning three new iPhones this year. The iPhone X now costs $1000 (or approx Rs 65,085), making it the most expensive smartphone from Apple. The initial plan for Apple was to use LCD panels in the 5.8-inch iPhone as well but the reduction in MBOM has allowed Apple to use OLED panels, said the report. If true, this would allow Apple to sell the next-generation iPhone X at a slightly reduced price.

Apple is unlikely to have major issues with TrueDepth component supply this time around as it has been dealing with these issues for many months for iPhone X. With trial production starting as soon as April, if all goes well, it seems that Apple's 2018 iPhone models will launch in the September timeframe - back to the "typical" new iPhone timeline. A new report making rounds on the web now suggests that the 5.8-inch model could possibly be the cheapest iPhone model to launch this year, despite the OLED display.

Currently, the original iPhone X's manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) supposedly costs Apple $400, minus distribution, marketing and the likes. "However, the project was shut mid-February and maybe eventually terminated".

In terms of screen size, rumors say that the iPad Pro 3 will likely have a much larger screen display of 11 inches in line with Apple's current design trend, which employs larger touchscreens and narrower bezels.

US retailers, shoe companies urge Trump not to hit…
Washington could impose more than $60 billion in tariffs on goods ranging from electronics to apparel, footwear and toys. The trade groups represent companies such as Apple, Alphabet - the parent company of Google - Walmart and Nike.

iPhone sales did miss expectations during Apple's most recent quarter, but CEO Tim Cook said that the "iPhone X surpassed our expectations and has been our top-selling iPhone every week since it shipped in November". Among the releases will be the largest iPhone ever, an upgrade of the iPhone X and an affordable device. While the display on the iPhone X is extremely color accurate, it's still not quite ideal.

It stands to reason, then, that Apple should aim to improve the color accuracy of its next-generation iPhone X displays even further in order to be able to once again credibly claim that its displays are the most color accurate in the industry.

Apple had also reportedly been working on MicroLED display technology at an R&D center in Taiwan but late previous year it was reported that efforts had been scaled back at the center.

Hypebeast notes how the smartphone will include an edge-to-edge retina display, as opposed to a rumoured 6.5-inch screen with the more standard LED technology. If Apple were to pass on that savings to customers, the next iPhone X could cost about $900 instead of $999.
