Rays forced to go to bullpen early vs. Red Sox

The Rays need to find consistency in an overhauled batting order - they've scored in just one of their first 18 innings and they've been held to four hits in each of their first two games, albeit against two dominant lefties in Boston's Chris Sale and Price. After Chris Sale and Matt Barnes combined for 3 walks through 7 innings, the bullpen gave up 4 in the 8th inning alone.

"At the end of the day, that's pretty pathetic what I did", Kelly said after walking three batters. "In the next month, we're probably going to have multiple guys in that slot".

The boys of summer are staring the season a bit earlier than normal this year and for the first time in 50 years every team will be in action on opening day.

Elbow troubles limited Price to just 16 appearances and 11 starts last year, but this looked like the ace Boston felt it had signed to a seven-year deal prior to the 2016 campaign. He hit a ball in the gap that got by both Rays outfielders Denard Span and Kevin Kiermaeir.

The 31-year-old Warner also reportedly irked the entire Australian dressing room by partying after the scandal. On the ball-tampering controversy, he said: "I don't think only two people were involved in this".

United States census to check 'citizenship'
Andrew Cuomo released a statement on Tuesday slamming a decision to include a question about citizenship status on the 2020 U.S. Press secretary Sarah Sanders says the White House "supports" the decision but it "was made at the department level".

The Red Sox are beginning the season in Florida against The Tampa Bay Rays.

Boston Red Sox second baseman Eduardo Nunez slides into home plate as scores an inside-the-park home run and is congratulated by shortstop Xander Bogaerts (2) against the Tampa Bay Rays during the second inning at Tropicana Field. "I can't ask for anything better", Span, who grew up in Tampa and was obtained in a December trade that sent Evan Longoria to San Francisco.

Up Next: David Price makes his 2018 debut on Friday as he takes on the Rays' Blake Snell. It was Boston's first inside-the-park homer during the regular season since Blake Swihart had one on the road against the New York Mets on August 28, 2015. Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and his approach was more aggressive than we've seen in the past. Tampa Bay reliever Alex Colome, who had 47 saves last season, earned his first of 2018 with a scoreless ninth. The 2016 AL Cy Young Award victor went 2-4 with a 3.93 ERA in six starts against Tampa Bay last season, although he was 2-1 with a 1.27 ERA in three starts at Tropicana Field.

After Chris Sale put on a shutdown affair, the Boston Red Sox bullpen would choke away an Opening Day victory.
