Avicii's family releases statement thanking fans for support following the musician's death

The family of Swedish music star Avicii has thanked fans for the "loving words" about their son and brother several days following his shock death. "We are so grateful for everyone who loved Tim's music and have precious memories of his songs", the Bergling family statement reads.

The devastation his friends, family and fellow musicians are experiencing is all too apparent through their various messages and photos and our thoughts are with all of his loved ones at this time.

"We'll try to get some advice from the family and everybody's going to put their heads together and try and do what we think Tim would want us to do", he said to Variety.

Avicii fans came out in full force to remember the late DJ after his sudden death late last week. Thousands of fans gathered in central Stockholm over the weekend to pay tribute to the musician, who scored huge worldwide hits with Wake Me Up and Levels. It caused him to have his gallbladder and appendix removed four years ago. Swedish public broadcaster SVT, citing information from an anonymous police official in Oman, reportedly said Sunday that two autopsies performed by local officials revealed nothing suspicious and foul play has been ruled out in the performer's death. Congratulations Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia - i wish you nothing but the best!

His smash hit "Wake me up" became the first song to be played more than 200 million times on Spotify in the history of the music streaming giant in 2014.
