They say a shift in creative direction caused this game to be the first in the series to not include a standard story mode. Now it seems that the game will have a battle royale mode similar to Fortnite to make up for it. And what better way to distract people from the loss of a campaign than leveraging the most wildly successful game genre to come along in years? It appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's single-player campaign was deemed "too out there" by Activision and cancelled. Instead, additional resources will be poured into the expansion of multiplayer and zombies.

Whether work is continuing on the single-player campaign, perhaps for release as DLC at a later date.is unclear. Well sadly it sounds like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won't have a traditional single player campaign in order to concentrate more on the game's multiplayer and Zombies modes instead. Well, what we know is that these games always included a single-player, so it's hard to ignore that warning. In fact, Treyarch believes Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's cooperative modes would be a decent replacement. Treyarch are reportedly working on expanding both multiplayer and zombies modes, and it seems they're looking at an emphasis on co-op modes as a stand-in for a traditional campaign.
