Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to France has him right in the middle of negotiations of a US-led coalition to attack Syria.

The kingdom is the lead partner in a coalition of countries bombing and blockading Yemen, where a combination of fighting, disease and food shortages has led the United Nations to dub it the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

While Salman was in France, a French lawyer filed a lawsuit in a Paris court against him, accusing him of complicity in torture in Yemen.

The Saudi channel did not specify whether the agreements were full contracts or memorandums of understanding, Reuters reported, however it is thought that arms sales were amongst the deals signs.

The visit by the heir to the Saudi throne comes after a tumultuous period at home that saw a major military shake-up and a royal purge as he consolidates power to a degree well beyond that wielded by previous rulers.

The prince has used his global tour to project his reforms, one of them famously granted women the right to drive back in September 2017, following a number of protests defying a longstanding policy of women's segregation.

"You and I are old in Saudi Arabia because 70 per cent of the population is younger than us", Prince Mohammed joked during the news conference at the Elysee palace.

He also told the Council that Moscow has warned the US of grave repercussions if it carries out strikes against Syrian forces. Moscow has said its experts have not found "any trace of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians".
