Trump warns Russian Federation to 'get ready' for missile strike over Syria

President Donald Trump signaled that a US missile strike on Syria is imminent after a suspected chemical attack killed dozens of civilians in Douma, northeast of the capital Damascus, over the weekend.

President Trump's ominous Wednesday tweets aren't quite the same thing, but they do make one thing clear: The U.S. really, really wants to avoid striking Russian forces in Syria.

Russian Federation has threatened retaliatory action against the United States if missiles are fired at Syria over chemical attack allegations it claims are fabricated.

Some diplomats said there were several arguments to justify bombing Syria over the suspected chemical weapons attack.

"We should all be outraged at these horrific reports and images from Douma", said Dr. Peter Salama, WHO Deputy Director- General for Emergency Preparedness and Response.

Later Wednesday morning, Mr. Trump tweeted that Washington's relationship with Moscow is "worse now than it has ever been".

Meanwhile, Europe's air traffic controllers have issued a "rapid alert" for airlines in the Eastern Mediterranean over the possibility of missile strikes on Syria. Now Trump has declared an imminent retaliation for the attack, saying also that Russian Federation better not respond by backing their ally.

The President previously criticised the Obama Administration for telegraphing its military moves in advance.

On Tuesday, Russia's ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin told Hezbollah's TV station Al Manar that if there was an American strike on Syria, they would be shot down and the launch sites would be targeted.
