Why Do YOU Think de Nysschen Is Out At Cadillac?

Move comes at launch of critical new products. It was just last month the automaker introduced the smaller XT4 crossover that's set to go on sale this fall.

Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen has left the company, replaced by General Motors Canada president Steve Carlisle.

Rumors also swirled of a power struggle between GM brass and de Nysschen, who in his trademark bravado moved Cadillac's headquarters from Detroit for the tonier SoHo neighborhood of New York City. But several sources suggested senior GM management was growingly increasingly concerned about Caddy's weak performance in its home market.

"We appreciate Johan's efforts over the last four years in setting a stronger foundation for Cadillac", GM said in a statement. "This move will further accelerate our efforts in that regard", Amman continued, sounding like he was displeased with Cadillac's product strategy.

GM offered no explanation for the exit of Mr.de Nysschen, saying that he is leaving the company "effective immediately". Johan de Nysschen also said at the time that the ATS and CTS sedans would eventually be replaced by new models wearing CT2 and CT4 badges. But despite the subsequent debut of some well-reviewed products, Cadillac couldn't seem to make a real dent in the competition. He led a variety of efforts to strengthen the sedan-centric brand, including, most recently, the introduction of Cadillac's first compact SUV, the XT4.

In media interviews, de Nysschen talked about the shift coming, but Caldwell said the brand didn't move quickly enough to capitalize on it.

Nuno hailed for Wolves' promotion
We've recruited well and he's galvanised the group really strongly in a very short space of time. However, Wolves' big spending has provoked complaints for other sides in the league.

Worldwide sales rose 15 per cent past year with sales in China soaring 51 per cent. Sales blossomed for the Volkswagen division under de Nysschen, although he did enjoy a flurry of new products during his eight-year tenure with the German luxury brand.

Carlisle began his GM career in 1982 as an industrial engineering co-op student at the Oshawa Truck Assembly Plant.

"There's no question Johan is a visionary automotive leader, but given GM's conservative culture he may have pushed things a step too far", Jessica Caldwell, an executive analyst at consumer auto site Edmunds.com, said in an email.

In a statement today, GM stated that de Nysschen was leaving to "pursue other interests". "I look forward to building on our current momentum as we continue on our mission to position Cadillac at the pinnacle of luxury".

Travis Hester, now vice president, Global Product Programs, is named president and managing director, GM Canada, replacing Carlisle. Compared to rivals like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and even Audi-one of de Nysschen's former posts-Cadillac's lineup is light on the crossovers and SUVs that have proven popular with buyers.
